The call for change and the discontent with todays administration is apparent in a recent USA Today, Gallup Poll. Nothing in the poll is amazing, except for the low level response to the need for changes for the aging population. Perhaps no one over 65 reads that publication.
What is of no surprise is that almost everyone who particpated in the poll wants a different direction, change, from the current administration.
An example of this is when asked if responders wanted the next president to continue with President Bush’s policies, 79% said they wanted a change in direction. Healthcare reform had 19% requesting this, just below bring the troops home (76%).
What amazed me was that only 1% wanted more/better healthcare for the elderly. Is that what we do? Are the elderly the forgotten generation? And, what constitutes the elderly?
My grandkids (ages 6-11) think I look good for my age (presuming over 60 is elderly). I think 85-90 is elderly. Actually, I prefer to classify them as people who have lived a long life. There is so much negativity in the classification of age, if its on the higher side as proven, I believe, by not addressing needs of this population. I could go on and on but would prefer to have others respond. Thoughts?
