I don’t like to be repetitive here and just report on other blogs but there is too much to say about the affect of the election this year on th eUS economy and healthcare to try to say it all myself. This is about each of us individually, and as a whole, the country. For me, I am in my 60’s, active, working but wanted to retire by 70. My retirement investment is sliding down, down, down. I worry about survival, economic and health wise. Who will care? I, like each one of you, owns this. Each of us, collectively, has the power of making a difference in the outcome of this election, this economy, the health of ourselves and our co-citizens.
This election stands to be the one that makes or breaks our county. No matter what your age, you need to be informed and not just by viewing advertisements but more importantly by reading facts. The facts speak for themselves.
FactCheck.org. Remember the name and go there to check the truth on ads, mud slinging by candidates This is IMPORTANT to know the truth. FactCheck.org is a service of the very respected Annenberg Project. It is a non-profit. Here is a sample:
Isn’t there a law against false advertising in political ads?
No. Candidates have a legal right to lie to voters just about as much as they want. Here’s why. (special report)

Would Obama tax my profits if I sell my home? Would he tax my IRA? Would he tax my water?
No. A new e-mail being circulated about Obama’s tax proposals is almost entirely false.
July 10, 2008
Did Pelosi advocate taxing “windfall” stock profits at 100%?
No. A widely circulated e-mail quoting her is a fraud.
Dec. 7, 2007
Is Obama a Muslim?
Dueling chain e-mails claim he’s a radical Muslim or a ‘racist’ Christian. Both can’t be right. We find both are false.

Was Obama born in the U.S.A.?
Yes. We give you the truth about Obama’s birth certificate.

The Kaiser Foundation, another non-profit organization, has a side by side comparision of where the candidates stand on health care. You can view it here. Here is a sample showing the goals of each candidate for healthcare in the US:
Stated goal :McCain: provide access to affordable health care for all by paying only for quality health care, having insurance choices that are diverse and responsive to individual needs, and encouraging personal responsibility. Date plan announced October 11, 2007
OBAMA: Affordable and high-quality universal coverage through mix of private and expanded public insurance. Date plan announced May 29, 2007
Requirement to have health insurance: McCain: No provision. Opposes mandates for coverage. Obama: Require all children to have health insurance. Require employers to offer “meaningful” coverage or contribute a percentage of payroll toward the costs of the public plan; small businesses will be exempt from this requirement.
So much more, so little space. Where to go to learn more:Read Ronni Bennett’s post on Time Goes By on Lipstick and Lies here.
From the Surgeons Blog, read The Bed in Which They Lie a thought provoking blog on McCain/Palin, the economy and more.

fabulous thanks for info on sites to go to. I can’t stand to read the papers or watch TV as I see my retirement go down the tubes thanks to the Bush economy. I went to fact check but to tell you the truth, I can’t even deal with that. I know I have to vote. I will. I just hope we make it till Jan when a new president takes over

The surgeons blog on the bed in which they lie is stupendous, thanks for the tip. What you need to write about is the rising negative campaign that is all about bitter words and NO action, no legitamacy. What happened to leadership?? It certainly is not here!
