The pollsters are saying over one third of registered voters have already voted. So will their votes be counted in with tomorrow’s vote? Will the absentee ballots be counted? Our system does not ever seem to keep up with the election process and absentee ballots are never counted before or by the election. Has anyone really been updating the early votes or will those come later? Our bureaucratic governments (local and national) at their best or worst!
I keep thinking that this is a historic election. So was the one with John Kennedy who was the youngest and first Roman Catholic President (like those issues should matter?). This was definitely the longest election process with enough dirty tricks and hateful manuevers to fill all the garbage pits throughout the world! (like issuing a fake proclamation saying Republicans and Demoncrats vote on different days).
I do not believe in polls. I think when people get in the privacy of the voting booth, they do what they feel is right in their heart, and may never discuss it truthfully, for whatever reason, with anyone. The 2000 election was won by the enormous surge of ultra right wing conservatives who voted. Now we have young people registering in droves. They did that when Kerry was running but they forgot to actually vote. Will they get up before late afternoon to vote in this election? Only time will tell.
If the election lasts through the night on November 4th, we will have months more of pundits analyzing race, extremists and prejudice in our country. The election decision is personal. It should be decided upon based on facts and truths. This election year those two entities have been difficult to sort out. Whatever your decision, VOTE! If you do NOT vote, you have absolutely NO SAY in the outcome except if your candidate lost, you can say, it was your fault for not voting.
Okay, enough rambling. Am very tired of this whole campaign, the Palin effect, the Hillary effect, McCain and ageism, Obama and racism, all did nothing to heighten the level of professionalism that should have been maintained for such a high position. I am tired of the bureaucratic inadequacies that preclude an easy outcome to the election (I know we are in for a night of miscues (inadvertant or purposeful). I am looking forward to resolution and a new beginning. Peace my friends. This blog will be over with the election results except for post election follow up. Hope you have enjoyed the ramblings as much as I have enjoyed writing them.
