It’s cold, grey, and snowy today. I wrestled with a sore throat for 3 days that has now blown into a cold. I spent the weekend helping my son and daughter in law pack for their move to a new home. Yes, they actually bought a previously owned home that is very, very nice. They got a deal on it as it is a “buyer’s market”. I ache in every part of my body from packing. Today I feel old and crochety. My mood matches the weather though I don’t think that has to do with age, just state of mind. When I get like this, I try to think of good things to pump me up. So I made a list of happy thoughts:
1. My son is moving to a nice home.
2. I have a job like (while some people are being laid off) I in a company (Erickson Retirement Communtie) that was recently named to the Fortune 100’s top 100 (and well deserved). I was thinking I might go to the health clinic since I feel so bad. We have onsite health clinics for employees. I need to take advantage of it.
3. I read the Senior Citizens Humor blog and saw some funnies that made me laugh. I thought I would include a picture they had which is (was) where I was mentally this morning.
Some might think the picture is ageist since it is of an older person who “hates everyone” and represents the crochety old woman often referred to in comedy routines. But I somehow find her and her T Shirt laughable because it is where I was mentally this morning. I am sure it is the cold, the weather, the aching muscles, the headache, and the fact that it’s Monday.
I did some research to see if I was alone and found I AM NOT ALONE!! And, it has nothing to do with age!! In fact, there is a scientific explanation for it (who knew?). Mostly this seems to be related to some form of sleep deprivation during the weekend. Although I thought I slept well (maybe to well!). At any rate, I know I am not alone
I also found this site that listed music videos about Mondays.
Would love to hear from other suffers of the Monday Morning Blahs and any remedies.

I used to get the blahs when I was in school and then when I worked. Now Mondays just don’t bother me.. Instead, I get the blahs on other days..

I get the blahs every Monday, rain or shine. Have gotten them since I was a kid in school. I don’t think it has to do with work or school but it is something about the time clock inside us. I read once that most heart attacks occur around 6 AM on Monday mornings. Not sure if this is still true or if it has something to do with the blahs
