Low Budget Home Improvement Projects for Outdoor Furniture

First things first when it comes to first impressions! I want my visitors to get that wow factor before they even step foot into my home. Making the outside look appealing is just as important as the inside. Clean cut green grass, flowers blooming in the garden, and patio furniture! I took two wicker chairs I bought from Ikea a few years ago, and freshened them up with some paint! These chairs are actually still for sale at Ikea for $34.99 each. They are not protected by any kind of sealant and their original color is pretty bland. Instead of throwing them out I decided to spray paint them! I tried a sunflower yellow at first, but soon realized that warm earth tones were what worked best for the look I was going for. The plant stand was passed down to me from my mom who no longer had use for it and was on the verge of throwing it out! There is no way I would allow that, given that the thing is almost as old as I am. The broken wicker cannot be saved, but can easily be covered by plants! I was very pleased with the outcome and the little money I spent!

The Painter’s Touch satin coated spray paint can be found at Home Depot (as well as the plants that I got on sale for $8 each) or Lowe’s in a wide variety of colors and finishes. It is designed for outdoor furniture, so it will protect the wicker against the rain.
