Defibrillate Your Monday Morning Blues

Monday morning is not just for would be football quarterbacks analyzing the previous days games. No, Monday morning has been known for years as the most common time for heart attacks to occur. Why?

There are many inconclusive reasons surrounding this phenomenum. Mostly they have to do with the mind body connection. The ingredients for this occurence include a prior week filled with stress and tension which is added to the years of fat build up in the body, high cholesterol that has yet to be managed, and the breaking off of some plaque which is filled in with what becomes a clot that stops the normal blood flow to a region of the heart. When this occurs, there is chest pain and if not treated promptly, a full blown heart attack with heart muscle damage occurs.

A bright and cheery way to start the week!  this knows no age limit. But, just for purposes of this blog, let’s say you are fit, or working at being fit; you take your medicine; your cholesterol is under control. It is still Monday morning.  And you have had a stressful week prior to this.

Laughter is the best medicine. I cannot even site all those studies that say this. So what you need is a good laugh. And if you happen to be in the over 60 crowd, you might like to know that there is a group out there who gets it, understands the trials and tribulations of getting older, retiring, and all that good stuff. It’s not that they make fun of it….well they do, but in a fun, non-deprceciating way. They are a bluesy singing group made up of men in this generation who tour, have CDs and are just a riot, in addition to sounding great. Their name: The Defibrillators! Just what is needed for a Monday morning laugh.

Go to their site and then you can hear some of their music from their recent CD, Triple Bypass, here.

I love some of these songs, a bluesy, jazzy, humorous take on getting older. Go have some fun and then let us know what you think. Consider this a little stress relief for the week.
