Forgetfullness? Brain overload vs. transient amnesia

Most of us, from time to time, find ourselves forgeting things. While this seems to occur as we age, it really can happen at any time. How many of you park your car when you go to shop and can’t remember where your car is? How many find yourselves driving on autopilot and suddenly you don’t know where you are going?

Our team recently wrote a book coming out this July, Old is the New Young, Erickson’s Secrets to Healthy Aging. The authors did a whole segment on the brain and memory with a test for your memory. More about that to come soon. But I took a comment from the book Read the full story

Facebook and older people, new trend

According to a recent story on MSNBC, more and more of the 65 or better population are joining social networks, especially MySpace and Facebook. Reason? They like seeing their grandchildren’s pictures; finding friends they haven’t seen in years and simply staying in touch.

I have decided that some of us suffer from the Meshuga Syndrome.  From the sublime to the extreme, here are some of those I believe (my opinion only) suffer from this syndrome: Read the full story

Three-cheese macaroni

I know Valentine’s Day has past, but I couldn’t resist using these adorable heart ramekins I found at — you’ll never guess — Safeway! One is the perfect size for an individual serving and could even serve as a miniature cake mold. I bought four in case I host a dinner party, and they came in red and pink so I got two of each color for contrast. I just love finding little treasures like this; they make cooking for one all that much more fun. Read the full story
