I’m not big into holiday specific door wreaths, but since I have an orange door, this one was a must. I found a black pine branch wreath at Micheal’s craft store for only $4. I also came across a bag of plastic spider rings with various colors. All I did was cut a slit in the part of the ring that goes around your finger, and they easily attached to the branches of the wreath. This project was fun and cheap!
I am a big fan of wine, however I wouldn’t say that I’m a wine connaisseur. I don’t know exactly what it takes to be classified as one. And I don’t know why it’s tradition to swirl it around in my glass before tasting, but I get a kick out of it every time I am called upon to taste a new bottle, especially when I am on a date in a nice restaurant! Anyways, I digress. You will understand my point when I tell you about my next craft idea! I just love wine bottles. I find them hard to throw away sometimes because it seems as though someone put alot of thought into the shape, color, and label of the bottle. So I have saved my favorites in hopes that I could use them for something one day. This first idea was made by a family friend and given to us as a gift last Christmas! My mom and I each got one. All she did was take an empty wine bottle and dress it up with plastic grapes, a cork, and some straw that she tied into a fancy bow. Then she added a string of Christmas lights to the inside! I use mine as night light for my kitchen. It goes along with the whole winery/Italian style motif that I’ve got going on. They are great inexpensive gifts.
I found a very unique shaped bottle that I kept in hopes that I could use it for something special. Well this year, since my budget is tight, I’ve come up with a thoughtful gift that I know my sister will appreciate. I cut a few overgrown vines of ivy from a plant at my moms house. The vines, when put in water, will sprout roots of their own. When they do my sister can put the vines in soil and grow a healthy new plant. So even though I didn’t spend alot of money on this gift, I know that it’s sentimental value will last a lot longer.
