BIDEN and PALIN: TONIGHT’S the NIGHT

Who’s On First? Tonight’s the Night! This blog (and my other blog at www.ericksonblog.com/blog) have discussed many times the disconnect between the media and the public, especially as it comes to the election of the next president. Polls conducted by various media outlets have McCain in the press more than Obama (et tu brute?); and even the first presidential campaign, except for Bob Schieffer, the moderator who called it a draw, all the pontificators on the major networks were naming McCain the winner (until the next morning when print media picked up on Schieffer’s call). But Politico.com, a site I am beginning to enjoy more and more, called it for Obama saying that was the viewer’s perspective (viewers means voters) what a concept, actually listening to the viewing audience.

Here is quote from politico.com: “Two days after a presidential debate many commentators scored as a tie, it’s beginning to look like the public saw things differently, as several polls show a small but significant post-debate boost for Barack Obama.”

Voters must be vigilant and pick their news sources deliberately. They should also trust their own instincts. This election is so important. The economy still sucks. The taxpayers have to bail out the billionaires who will still walk away with millions even after they led their companies to improbable extinction. Healthcare is a MAJOR issue that still needs to be addressed.

Tonight, we come to perhaps the most important factor in this election: the VP selection. Many Vice Presidents have had to take over for the President. Most notable in recent years was Johnson after Kennedy was assassinated. Who would you want to be a heart beat away from the presidency? Palin or Biden. Did you watch Palin interview with Couric? Here’s more for your listening pleasure.

Tune in tonight to the Biden Palin Debate and post your thoughts here.
