Is there anything left to say? Yes: VOTE!

November 3rd, 2008 nbelle Posted in General No Comments »

The pollsters are saying over one third of registered voters have already voted. So will their votes  be counted in with tomorrow’s vote? Will the absentee ballots be counted? Our system does not ever seem to keep up with the election process and absentee ballots are never counted before or by the election. Has anyone really been updating the early votes or will those come later? Our bureaucratic governments (local and national) at their best or worst! Read the rest of this entry »

A Whole New World of Political Influence in video

October 29th, 2008 nbelle Posted in General No Comments »

Each day of my life, I learn. I am thankful for that. This election I have learned to respect both candidates for their view points, passion, and perseverence. I am also a human being subject to the same influences as others; though the truth is, political advertising does not affect my views. Watching debates, checking facts on non-partisan, non-profit  foundation sites, are my backbones for decisions. As I naviagate the blogging world, I try to evoke response to blogs so we have a good balance and discussion of points raised. I have joined the world of Twitter and Current.

Current is an offshoot of Twitter where people go to discuss politics, humor, news, comedy whatever. There are all ages and all views. But for some reason I seem to be invited to participate in discussions which evoke rumors, innuendoes, and far right or far left groups. I represent none of these and choose not to be party to them. Rather, I stick to facts, post videos that speak for themselves and yes, post my opinion. Read the rest of this entry »

Alaska Paper Endorse Obama, the final assault

October 27th, 2008 nbelle Posted in General 1 Comment »

The Anchorage Daily News endorsed Obama today. Here is a quote about Palin with a left handed remark as to why she and McCain should not be elected to the white house:

“Gov. Palin has shown the country why she has been so successful in her young political career. Passionate, charismatic and indefatigable, she draws huge crowds and sows excitement in her wake. She has made it clear she’s a force to be reckoned with, and you can be sure politicians and political professionals across the country have taken note. Her future, in Alaska and on the national stage, seems certain to be played out in the limelight.

Yet despite her formidable gifts, few who have worked closely with the governor would argue she is truly ready to assume command of the most important, powerful nation on earth. To step in and juggle the demands of an economic meltdown, two deadly wars and a deteriorating climate crisis would stretch the governor beyond her range. Like picking Sen. McCain for president, putting her one 72-year-old heartbeat from the leadership of the free world is just too risky at this time.”

Latest Pew Insitute Poll: Obama Lead Widens

October 21st, 2008 nbelle Posted in General No Comments »

Doubts Grow About McCain’s Judgment, Age and Campaign

Obama’s Lead Widens: 52%-38%

From the Pew Press Release:

Barack Obama’s lead over John McCain has steadily increased since mid-September, when the race was essentially even. Shortly after the first presidential debate on Sept. 26, Obama moved to a 49% to 42% lead; that margin inched up to 50% to 40% in a poll taken just after the second debate. Currently, Obama enjoys his widest margin yet over McCain among registered voters, at 52% to 38%. When the sample of voters is narrowed to those most likely to vote, Obama leads by 53% to 39%.

Unfortuantely that still does not sit well with a group of people who are now spreading the incredulous rumor that Obama is not a US Citizen. I am only the messenger. They believe that Obama has money in FactCheck.org. Not true. They report the truth in Obama’s statements too, not just McCain.

I guess what we have to realize is that people will believe what they want to believe. There are always those who choose to mistrust the mainstream and look for the bad stuff. Hopefully these people are not in the mainstream and continue to contribute to all of ours, and our country’s well being, for that is the ultimate goal in assuring all US citizens are able to express their rights, their votes.

The Last Debate

October 16th, 2008 nbelle Posted in General No Comments »

For the first part of the presidential debate last night, I thought McCain might just pull it out.  But his anger management failed him and in side by side shots (I watched CNN), every time Obama spoke, McCain looked as if he was going to explode and was brashly interrupting when Obama spoke. On the other hand, Obama smiled as McCain spoke. Obama looked presidential, calm, in control, and factual. But was he factual? was McCain? With so much slinging going on, it was hard to say.
