What a country! Anyone can be US President

October 15th, 2008 nbelle Posted in General | No Comments »

I thought today, the day of the 3rd presidential debate between Senators McCain and Obama, I would keep it light, let the pundits politicize and poll. I will do something totally different: I will tell you a secret. You too can run for President of the US. Don’t believe me? I will show you.

Have you seen the debates in song? More entertaining then the real thing since the previous debates were more about dissing each other then in actual policy stands. Sometimes words just aren’t enough. See these videos. …continue reading Presidential Campaign in Song

Sorry seems to be the hardest word; It’s 1964 again

October 13th, 2008 nbelle Posted in economy and elections | 2 Comments »

Representative John Lewis, a Georgia Democrat and known and respected civil rights leader, said that Senator John McCain and his running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin, were “sowing the seeds of hatred and division” in a way that reminded him of former Gov. George Wallace and “another destructive period” in the nation’s history. Sadly, I don’t disagree with him as noted in my “negativity blog”.  But I also believe this campaign wreaks of the 1964 when LBJ attacked Goldwater with perhaps the most frightening campaign ad of its time (till now). …continue reading Sorry seems to be the hardest word; It’s 1964 again

Negativity in Election?

October 10th, 2008 nbelle Posted in General, media and bias | 4 Comments »

Negativity begats more negativity. It doesn’t take rocket science to know that. Try being around someone who sees the glass half full all the time, and soon, you can’t see anything in the glass at all. It also is a way to play to people’s fears so the person using negativity can try to manipulate the process.

This campaign is no exception to manipulative negativity in political ads.  In a recent commentary on negative campaign ads, Darrell West of the Brooking Institute notes:” Attack ads broadcast in recent months have twisted the truth, lied about personal background, taken statements out of context, and clearly sought to manipulate voter sentiments.” …continue reading Negativity in Election?

DeNiro says it all: Obama inexperience in political corruption

October 8th, 2008 nbelle Posted in General | 1 Comment »

Sagacious Rambling, a blog I now follow regularly, and you should also, puts things in perspective this election year. I saw this on her blog, went to YouTube and had to put it here. There is no doubt this election campaign is raucaus and down right nasty. McCain did not do well in last night’s presidential campaign according to a CNN poll taken immediately following the debate. …continue reading DeNiro says it all: Obama inexperience in political corruption

Public Believes Biden won debate: Pew

October 7th, 2008 nbelle Posted in General | No Comments »

To read the full report, click here. According to Pew “While last week’s vice-presidential debate had a larger audience than any other in history, voters’ impressions of Sarah Palin have changed little. A special re-interview this weekend of voters who had first been polled a week ago found that most (55%) continue to have a favorable view of Palin, but most (52%) also still believe that she is not qualified to serve as president, if it becomes necessary.

In contrast, voters’ opinions of Joe Biden have improved since the previous Pew survey conducted Sept. 27-29. Biden’s favorability rating among registered voters recontacted over the weekend climbed from 54% to 63%, and the percentage believing he is qualified to serve as president jumped to 77% from 69% a week earlier.”

81% of viewers felt Biden did good to excellent as compared to 65% for Palin.

From FactCheck.org which should be your staple for finding out the truth in this campaign. How long will we have to endure this negative, mud slinging campaign? Who promotes the most lies? Do you want a lier for President?

Who started this mess in the economy? Neitehr McCain nor Obama did. In fact it was neither party. there is enough blame to go around and it rests primarily with the financial leaders of wall street and investment houses. …continue reading The Truth, the whole truth: McCain, Palin, Obama,

BIDEN and PALIN: TONIGHT’S the NIGHT

October 2nd, 2008 nbelle Posted in General, Republican VP Palin, economy and elections, media and bias | No Comments »

Who’s On First? Tonight’s the Night! This blog (and my other blog at www.ericksonblog.com/blog) have discussed many times the disconnect between the media and the public, especially as it comes to the election of the next president. Polls conducted by various media outlets have McCain in the press more than Obama (et tu brute?); and even the first presidential campaign, except for Bob …continue reading BIDEN and PALIN: TONIGHT’S the NIGHT

Just the facts: Economy Vs Presidential Campaign

September 25th, 2008 nbelle Posted in General | 1 Comment »

Obama called McCain to talk about how they can work with their colleagues to end the stalemate on the buyout. McCain called Obama back and said let’s postpone the debate till the next Thursday (the day of the VP debate). Obama did no press on this. McCain did making everyone believe it was his idea and he really ran with it, taking it to a whole new level.

McCain cancels appearance on letterman cause he is rushing back to DC to fix the bailout. Letterman has his show and finds out, McCain is 5 blocks away doing an interview with Katie Couric.

President Bush invtes both candidate to come to white house with congressional leaders of both parties to finalize the bailout proposal. He, Bush, never checks with Congres who has its own bi-partisan group that have made great strides in creating a bailout that is reflective of both sides, and the ultimate payor of the bailout, the people.

McCain finds time to appear at Clinton’s Global Initiative (in person) this morning. Obama appears via satellite.

Sarah Palin has not turned in her finanicals (all other candidates have). She gets an extension till after the VP debate next Thursday unless its delayed for some unexplained reason.

Question: What is truth and reality?

Do you think these candidates for the US president should be able to handle crisis? Should they be able to handle more than 1 thing a time? Should they be knowledgeable about the information that leads to what is going on in the US, in its governement?

In order to vote, shouldn’t you do research to know which candidate is real and which is a pure politician?

I challenge you to answer these questions carefully. Find the facts. Then decide who is the real candidate for US President.
