Bob Kaplan AKA StrykerI started playing the Wii regularly here at my Erickson community, Highland Springs. My grandson originally taught me how to play. My nickname, “Stryker”, came from one of the Super Hero toys that another grandson enjoys. Our team name came from a consensus of the group members. The Highlanders have an advantage because we live in Texas. Everything in Texas is better. I think that we’re the newest community and probably the best one also… I really have not bowled in at least 25 years, which means that I have no bad habits to correct and can learn very quickly. |

Sally Pendergast AKA High RollerMy six year old grandson taught me to play the Wii. I chose High Roller, honestly because it’s the first thing that came to mind. The Highlanders are the best because our state is the largest! Greenspring is definitely going to be easiest to beat cause they’re green, Pardner. Highland Springs is better than all the others because its the newest! I did a little bowling in my 20s, and I never bowled over 90. I like to compete against my grandkidsd because they teach me a lot about playing–that’s my training method. Other teams may say they’re superior, all I have to say to them is “Ha!” I would have to compare the Highlanders to Da Bears too! |

Phyllis Dunkin AKA FearlessI started playing the Wii when Highland Springs got one. It looked like fun so I tried it! Fearless Phyllis just sounds great–you can’t pick a better nickname! We decided on our team name, The Texas Highlanders, because there’s no better way to describe ourselves. We have an advantage over all the other teams because we think we’re better! It’s all in the how you think! We know Highland Springs is the best community! I have an ‘early history’ of bowling. We’ll have to wait and see how it helps me in the tournament! At this point, I’m practicing–practice makes perfect! |

Pete Robertson AKA SidewinderI started playing the Wii when it was first introduced at Highland Springs. The nickname “Sidewinder” was conceived to remind me of a snake that was prominent in West Texas. The just slithered along the ground from sided to side, aware of everything, fearing no one! Our team has a distinct advantage over the competition, becaus we are all mature adults with a common vision, and a burning desire to win. Watch out for the Texas Highlanders! Highland Springs is better than all the other communities because: 1. We live in Texas (sorry about that Eagle’s Trace. 2. Frankly our faciilties are better, our food services and food are superior, our staff is unexcelled, and our residents are simply the best. I have had some experience in bowling. I was on two bowling leagues early in my life, and you know what they say about riding a bicycle… you cannot beat experience, luck, and prayer! The Highlanders will hold a few practice sesions. But we need very little practice to beat the teams for these other, so-called Erickson Communities. Oh I am training! I walk three miles every day except Sunday. I work out in the fitness center. I go through hours of mental gymnastis. Our team has a psychological advantage over the other communities simply because we are better than they are. As for the superiority of our opponents, I believe they talk a good game, but under fire they will wilt under pressure! Bring them on!!!! |
